We have finished our second samQ release in 2019!
In this release we reacted again to the long-running issue of Indirect Access. The identification of the documents that are actually generated indirectly is now automated and completely integrated into samQ.
Counting of indirectly generated documents
Currently, all generated documents are counted in SAP’s USMM2. Therefore, it is not clear how many of these were actually generated indirectly. With samQ this problem has been solved. Now you get the information about the actual number of indirectly generated documents at the push of a button via any desired interface. In addition, you get a lot of useful information about activities that have taken place, servers involved, transactions or reports that have been executed, etc. It is precisely this information that is needed to prove to SAP where the documents that are actually indirectly generated come from and which documents are clearly generated within SAP technology.
This gives samQ customers a decisive advantage. With the new release of samQ you are excellently equipped for the next negotiation with SAP. SAP itself cannot currently distinguish between directly and indirectly generated documents.
Now there’s an order in the BO licenses
So far we have determined the BO licenses according to the rather complicated method of SAP. A real optimization of the licenses was not possible, because there exist so many different definitions of BO usage rights.
We reacted to this and made a customizing area available in samQ beyond the pure counting of BO licenses in the Java systems. In this area, the company-internal Business Object license types can be mapped with exact authorization. This also puts an end to the guesswork of whether BO licenses are used correctly and whether the company is over- or underlicensed.
Our Customizing becomes more flexible
SAP changes the license definitions more and more often. As a consequence, we have now implemented two independently functioning customizing options in samQ. Now it is possible to use both, SAP components and transactions mixed in one license template. Here, usable components and subcomponents can be combined with individual transactions or transaction groups to form a process template. This is interesting for all those who want to mix their own company-specific processes with general processes predefined by SAP.
Multiple registrations made transparent
Time and again, the case of multiple registrations is a controversial topic with SAP. The SAP customer is suddenly confronted with a series of multiple registrations, which he has to explain, otherwise unnecessary additional costs have to be paid. In samQ, this information is now easily accessible in the samQ report. In most cases, multiple registrations are not caused by multiple use, but necessary SAP functionalities, which have to be available at different locations for one person in a timely manner.
Deleted users will be listed
Sometimes it’s the auditor, sometimes it’s SAP itself that points out physically deleted users and draws its own conclusions. However, whatever you need an information for, it can be called up centrally at any time in the samQ report. This means that all deleted users are permanently and conveniently available in samQ via all systems and can also react to unusual activities.
More functionality requires more order
With the many new functions in our software, it’s only logical that we have to organize them, and separate frequently used functionalities from rarer ones. That is why we have adapted, improved and arranged the menu structures in samQ in such a way that any desired information can be accessed quickly and clearly.
The S-System is finally integrated into samQ
For many years now samQ included the communication between S-System and C-System for license optimization. Initially hosted centrally in our IT center, we gradually placed the S-systems directly at the customer’s site, thus opening up a lot of new information, faster optimization and further advantages.
With the current release we say goodbye completely to the good old S-System and have now integrated all functionalities directly into samQ Customizing.
The advantages: even faster optimization, better maintenance of the database with the required evaluated transactions and an improved and faster initial installation.
